Description

The very scenic Tea Pot Hill is in The Valley at Sandsend which is roughly 3 mile to the North West Of Whitby. The row of houses is officially names Mount Pleasant, but locals renamed the area “Tea Pot Hill” which is said to originate from the house at the top of the hill where a pot of tea was always on the table and callers always welcomed.

It is said the tea pot was also passed about the neighbours when a brew was ready. Locals say that Lord Normanby who owns the land and houses much prefers the communities name of “Tea Pot Hill”, I think I do too.

This photograph was taken one December Friday in 2010, I had been up to Staithes for the afternoon and stopped in Sandsend on my way home. With snow on the ground and clear blue skies it was too tempting not to stop and grab the photos. Im sure pleased I did.
