January – Sunset At The Lonely Tree

Im not one to follow the crowds, and I do feel the lonely tree photograph is simply overdone. However, I was passing, and this scene presented itself. An early year sunset with mist across the moors. How could I refuse.

February – Day Break At Stonegate (Lealholm)

An early morning rise across the moors in the snow. It was minus 5 at daybreak, and as the sun rose across the moors it gave this beautiful scene at Stonegate just outside Lealholm.

March – The Flying Scotsman Pays A Visit

One of the most memorable weeks for the North York Moors Railway, The Flying Scotsman Paid a visit to the line, and so did the crowds.

April – Spring Lambs At Egton Bridge

Most years I get an invite to the Hallams Farm during lambing season. Every year is different ranging from late season snows, to summer like conditions.

May – Sunset At Ralphs Cross

High on Blakey Ridge, the light and conditions can change by the minute. This is one of my favourite places to be. Im almost certain we called at The Lion Inn for tea.

June – North York Moors Barn Owl

Those who follow my Facebook group will know of my love for The Birds Of Prey on our moors. Although beautiful, you get an artificial feel for Birds in a man made nest box. To see an owl living in a tree just as nature intended is one of the greatest things you will ever see in our National Park.

July – Sheep And Geese At Lockwood Beck

Sometimes mother nature has a way of making you laugh. Something about this scene did just that. Geese and ducks seem such a strange mix, but they were such a beautiful sight on the moor top above Lockwood Beck on the day I was sat watching an Osprey feed at the reservoir.

August – North York Moors Railway At Fenn Bogs Wildlife Reserve

Heather and steam trains, such a beautiful sight. The Railway winding its way from Grosmont to Pickering is always a stunning scene, but add in the magic of the late summer heather bloom and the place transforms into a photographers dream.

September – Moorland Into Forest (Stape Road)

Quite possibly my favourite place on the Moors. The mixture of habitat on the Stape road is inspirational. A winding road through, bracken, heather and eventually into forest. All surrounded by stunning villages. Simply awesome

October – Sunset At Danby Beacon

The heather has all but faded away, but the sunsets of autumn and winter can be amongst the very best up on the moor tops.

November – Frosty Morning On the Esk At Egton Bridge

The colours of Autumn and the first frosts of the season make for beautiful scenes along the banks of The River Esk. Egton Bridge is one of my favourite stretches of The Esk Valley, the calm water and its reflections are simply a sight to behold.

December – Egton Sheep In the Snow

One of my favourite winter photographs from a very cold winter here in Yorkshire. I drove down the road, it was minus 10 even in the middle of the day. I was greeted by this view. A photograph opportunity just too good to miss.
