I had a bit of a tip off that The Sailing Vessel Lord Nelson would be coming into the harbour on this mornings high tide.
Myself and my good friend Mike Marshall were up early to see if we could get some photographs of the boats arrival.
Up at 5.30 I got to the cliff top for sunrise but the boat was out on the horizon and looked tiny. I arranged to meet Mike at the singing kettle for breakfast at 7.30pm and from there we headed to Tate Hill beach for some photographs.
At first the skies were grey with little light, but as the boat neared the harbour entrance the sun came out and the boat looked magnificent lit up and set against the darker skies behind.
Below are a few of my photos from this mornings shoot. I will add a couple of the best ones to the shop for people to purchase as canvas or prints should they wish to.
Once again, thanks for looking. I would love to hear your feedback in the comments section below or in my Facebook group here.

great photos Glen as always just wish I could be there all year round
Many thanks for your feedback Gary. Its been a very hot and sticky day here. So wonderful to see a boat like this sail into Whitby on an early morning tide. Wouldnt it be great if the port had a big sailing ship of its own. Maybe one day we will see one permanently residing in The Dock End. Thanks again, and best wishes – Glenn
Great photos Glenn as usual. I love to see the tall ships and I like your idea of having one in the harbour permanently … It would be great!
Thankyou Sharon. It seems so long now since we had the Endeavour with us. Wouldnt it be great if locally we could build a full sized cook replica and keep it here in our Harbour. What a sight that would be.
Your photos give so much pleasure Glenn and your hard work is seen in the results
Many thanks for that Merle. Quite a few people say they find a lot of pleasure in these photographs. At times I struggle with motivation to take photos, but when I read comments like this, then thats all the motivation I need. thank you and best wishes – Glenn
Great photos as usual, Glenn. It was so nice to see a tall ship again, the Grand Turk was the last I saw.
Hi Mark, I think the Grand Turk was probably the last one we had in port. Such a shame that lovely boat had to leave.
brilliant photos Glenn, wish I was there to see it, xx
