Glenn Kilpatrick – Whitby Photography

Self taught professional photographer from Whitby, North Yorkshire. Covering all aspects of photography and specialising in candid shots from Whitby and anywhere else I find myself in the Uk or across The World.

I have a love of capturing people and a desire to photograph them in a totally unique light. All my photographs are taken in natural settings. I do not own a studio, as I feel all the best photographs come from natural settings. The great outdoors is my studio of choice.

Having observed the quality of images being captured by fellow photographer Matt Hart I spoke to him about the camera he was using. Matt explained he had sold many thousands of pounds worth of Nikon gear to purchase some Fuji X Series gear.

I could see by the quality of Matts images that his choice had been a good one, and so I decided to follow suit.

The Fuji X-T1 is a highly responsive, practical and sophisticated compact system camera that joins the retro X-series. The X-T1 features an ergonomic layout with SLR-style handling, large mechanical dials and a solid weather-resistant build, together with all the benefits an X-series camera is notorious for, such as its ability to focus quickly (0.08 seconds), and capture sharp, detailed images. The intuitive design combined with the world’s fastest Real Time electronic viewfinder (lag-time of 0.005 sec) allows you to immerse yourself in the action, providing a truly enjoyable experience when composing your images. In addition to the above, the Fuji X-T1 also features a 16.3 megapixel APS-C size X-Trans CMOS II sensor, a powerful EXR Processor II, 1080p movie recording, an EF-X8 external flash unit and a 1.04million dot 3″ tilting LCD screen

My current favourite Lens has to be the Fuji 50-140mm f2.8 lens. although heavy and somewhat Bulky on the XT1’s small body, the images it produces are simply awesome. The lens enables me to get some great close up shots without having to get into peoples faces. Basically you can shoot from distance which allows you to keep things as candid as possible.

The Fuji 50-140mm f2.8 lens is a high performance, weather-resistant telephoto zoom designed for use with Fuji’s X series of compact system cameras. The lens features a versatile focal length and a constant f/2.8 aperture making it suitable for a wide range of photographic applications, including sport, travel, wildlife and night time photography. The lens is also equipped with the world’s first Triple Linear Motor, which uses an inner focusing system to maximise portability and ensure AF operation is quick, smooth and quiet. As with other Fuji XF lenses, the 50-140mm offers an all-metal barrel construction and an aperture control ring.
